Family Fitness

From Mom and Dad to the toddler wanting to tag along with everyone, being fit, healthy and happy should be top on the list for the family. Now everyone knows exercise is one boon for not just fitness, but happiness: So let's see how we can get the whole family involved.

Now, how do you get your family off the sofa and encourage them to get moving with you? It can be a simple task if you find an exercise program that the entire family can enjoy!

It is a known fact that the average American is not just overweight, but quite unhealthy, what considering all the junk, processed, packaged and refined foods that we consume on an almost daily basis.

More disturbing is the fact that childhood obesity is on an unprecedented rise, these considered, it is up to mom and dad to initiate some movement within their own household. There's an old saying that the "family that plays together, stays together." This is the approach you should take to get your family moving! It's not exercise, it's time to play!

One sure-fire method of getting the whole family more active is to literally observe what everyone likes to do and make them to do engagements on the family's agenda. This could be tennis, soccer, swimming, you name it.

Secondly, since kids are wonderful imitators, it is safe to say that parents are going to have to lead the way in initiating exercising. When kids see you exercise, they naturally want to join in and this actually makes the whole process more fun.

You can hold the little kids by the arms, you turn around, they get a swing and everyone is laughing and having a good time...and getting a workout! Parents can also play their favorite songs and dance to them, I bet your bottom dollar that the kids will join in. Some good suggestions: Old Motown, James Brown, the Beatles...

Oh, getting a pet will definitely spice things up. The number one choice is a dog. Let the whole family get involved in walking (or running with) the dog.
Family outings at the park where such activities as ball playing, frizz-bee throwing etc are involved are fun.

Devote thirty minutes or more a day for open air recreation for yourself and your family. Visits to the zoo, active play, and swimming tend to relieve tension created in the home, school, and work.

Now, let's not forget the most important factor: Diet.
It can't be stressed enough, this will be the time to go for the mucus-less diet. Now, I now I've got everyone wondering what that is. Well, it is the diet that consists quite simply of your raw and properly cooked fruits, roots and leafy veggies and Herbs.

Healthy living is maybe the greatest way to care for your family. It starts with you and most likely, your children will continue to do what they learned to do at home once they spread their wings and fly solo. Make sure you provide the healthy start they need to carry with them a lifetime!
